Most writing tools stop at grammar. Draftsmith was built on a different premise: a manuscript isn't finished until its claims hold up — and it shouldn't ship until it carries its receipts.

Fact-checking built into the Generate button

Before your revision comes back, Draftsmith searches online for sources relevant to your text and attaches references to the claims it can verify. When a claim fails verification — say the draft asserts the sun rises in the west — that passage returns bolded and underlined so you see exactly what to correct. Where reputable sources disagree with a position you've taken, the opposing view is woven into the prose, fairly attributed. You stay in control: Draftsmith never silently changes your meaning; it annotates and flags.

How the backend works

The editor above is the front door to a serverless pipeline running on the cloud. When you hit Generate, your manuscript — headings, formatting, and comments intact — travels to a cloud function that orchestrates two passes of a large language model. The first pass is the analyst: it reads your text and your comments, then fact-checks every substantive claim against live web search, recording verdicts, sources, and any reputable viewpoints that contradict what you've written. The second pass is the author: it takes that analysis and rewrites the manuscript — resolving your comments, weaving in opposing perspectives where honest sources disagree, attaching a numbered reference to every claim, and flagging anything it couldn't verify in bold underline so you have the final say.

Word documents are unpacked on the server — a .docx is really a bundle of XML — so your headings, formatting, and Review-tab comments survive the trip in, and the finished piece is rebuilt into a fresh .docx on the way out. Usage is metered by tokens (the currency of AI computation), billed against a prepaid balance handled by Stripe. Nothing you write trains any model; drafts pass through the pipeline and come back to you. When your manuscript is done, send it next door to Omniglot to publish it in any language.
