What makes this different from machine translation
Omniglot doesn't translate word-for-word — it transcreates. The target is an average thirty-year-old literate adult in the locale you choose: their vocabulary, their idioms, their spelling conventions. When an English concept won't land — a baseball metaphor in Vietnam, a Thanksgiving reference in Egypt — Omniglot rewrites the passage so the idea survives even where the literal words wouldn't. And because machine output is a starting point, not a verdict, human translators can edit any section directly or attach a comment; the next Localize pass honors their edits and folds in their guidance. Sections a human has touched are never silently overwritten.
