Future Headlines
A fictional newsletter that reads today's news and writes tomorrow's headlines.
News tells you what happened. Future Headlines asks the more useful question: given what happened, what happens next? It is a work of structured fiction — clearly labeled as such — that projects how countries may proceed based on the events of today.
How it works
Behind the newsletter, an LLM continuously reads current news and builds a strategic outlook for each country it covers: the pressures on its economy, the trajectory of its politics, the constraints on its choices. From that outlook it writes headlines from plausible futures — six months out, two years out — so citizens can reason about where their country is heading rather than only where it has been.
Why fiction, on purpose
Prediction dressed up as certainty is propaganda. Future Headlines wears its speculation openly: every edition is framed as fiction, every projection traceable to the present-day events that seeded it. The value isn't being right about the future — it's giving readers a structured way to think about it.
Status
Future Headlines is a planned project. The news-analysis backend and the first editions will be documented here as they're built.
